Eleven-year-old Brides

You always here the stories of young girls betrothed to men four, even five times their age, but this photo slideshow on the NY Times website adds faces to these stories. In Afghanistan, young girls, still children, are given to old men to settle gambling debts or any other financial issues.
No cultural relativistic argument can ethically defend these cultural crimes.

Cat in the Garden Theme

Update: I’m sorry but I’m no longer supporting this theme. I can’t make the time in my busy schedule to actually keep developing the theme.

I want to focus on writing articles and asides, as well as find some spare time for all my other interests. Thus I had to jettison my WP support. You see, once a theme is out there, you have to continuously update it. Every major release, some little piece of code becomes deprecated and needs to be replaced with a new piece of code. Also, people demand support for new features introduced in the WordPress core. And before you know it you’re continuously working on a side project you really don’t enjoy much.

Besides, there are way better themes and theme-designers out there.

Islamophobia: a non-existing neologist portmanteau

European subsidy-sponge organization ENAR (European Network Against Racism) announces that racism is on the rise in Europe. To be more precise, Islamophobia is increasing dramatically (PDF press release)! Duck-and-cover everyone! But is this really the case? Continue reading this post»

Muslims are angry again…

Scores of Muslim inmates at a high security prison are set to launch a multi-million pound claim for compensation after they were offered ham sandwiches during the holy month of Ramadan.

“They say their human rights were breached when they were given a special nightly menu – drawn up to recognise their specific dietary requirements – by officers at HMP Leeds last month.”

And that’s worth millions of pounds? Well, my human right are breached, too, every time a Muslim thinks it is his or her holy duty to oppress people, call for the annihilation of me and the lands I live in, want to impose Sharia law on the lands of the West, fly Boeings into skyscrapers, turn busses and subways and trains into traps of death, and try to do away with Humanistic achievements such as equal rights, individual freedoms, and all other freedoms we had to pry loose from the iron grip of Christianity. Maybe I should sue those Muslims for millions, too.

Government Forms Made Even Harder

Imagine that you are a foreigner living in the USA. Imagine that you just got your US drivers license and your foreign license is nearly expired. Now, imagine that your country requires you to obtain special request forms so you can get a new valid license abroad. Now also imagine that you request these forms, specially made for [insert foreign country here] citizens abroad… only to find out that your government does not send these forms abroad!

Yes, it is possible in the Banana-monarchy of the Netherlands!

Electing a Mayor in The Netherlands?

Politicians are the source of all deceit.

It was, for the undemocratic Kingdom of the Netherlands, a unique opportunity: the citizens of Utrecht were allowed to elect their own mayor. The fact that they could only pick between two candidates, pre-selected by the State Council, and both of the same political “progressive labor party” (read: socialist-communist backstabbers and traitors who are selling us to the EU), obviously had nothing to do with the low turn-out, right? Only 12% of the registered voters showed up for this faux democratic election, and now the government uses this referendum to say “see, the people do not want a democratically elected mayor! We can just keep appointing our failed political comrades to nice paying jobs as mayors of our cities!”

When are the Dutch going to revolt?

Atheists for Presidency

Maybe a president who didn’t believe our soldiers where going to heaven might be a little less willing to get them killed.

~Bill Maher, on Real Time

How can it be that some vague document, voted out by more then 60% of the Dutch electoral population, must be rewritten and put up to a vote again? Rephrasing the question does not warrant a change of answer.
